An MVR (Mechanical Vapor Recompression) evaporator is a very energy-efficient machine for concentrating liquids. Its main job is to recycle its own steam. It captures the vapor produced during boiling, compresses it to make it hotter, and then uses that hot vapor to boil more liquid.
The main difference from a traditional Multi-Effect Evaporator (MEE) is the energy source:
- MVR runs on electricity to power a compressor.
- MEE runs on large amounts of fresh steam from a boiler.
This means MVR has much lower operating costs.
It works in a smart, continuous loop:
- Boil: The liquid is boiled inside the evaporator, creating steam (vapor).
- Compress: This steam is captured and sent to a compressor, which makes it much hotter.
- Recycle: The super-hot steam is sent back to the evaporator to boil more liquid.
Because it reuses its own energy, it's incredibly efficient.
